12-Day A&P Exam Preparation
in Goodyear, Arizona
Turn your aviation-maintenance background into your next step toward FAA Airframe & Powerplant certification.
America’s Best AMT Courses provides accelerated, in-person preparation for the General, Airframe, and Powerplant written exams, along with oral and practical exam preparation. Our 12-day program is designed for experienced military and civilian aviation-maintenance professionals and qualified aviation-maintenance school graduates—not students starting from zero.
Is this the right course for you?
The 12-day course is a good starting point when you already have the necessary aviation-maintenance experience or qualifying education and need a structured preparation program for the FAA exams.
You may be coming from military aircraft maintenance, a civilian maintenance position, an apprenticeship, or an FAA-certificated aviation-maintenance school. Your next step depends on your documentation and which exams you have already completed.
Already passed all required written exams? Review our 3-Day Oral & Practical Prep Course instead.
Still waiting on your FAA authorization or unsure whether your experience qualifies? Start with our Eligibility & Registration Guide before purchasing a course. Your FAA eligibility must be established through the applicable experience or education pathway; attending a prep course does not replace that requirement.
What you will prepare for:
Written examinations
Build and reinforce your knowledge for the General, Airframe, and Powerplant knowledge tests through focused review, assigned study materials, and preparation activities.
Oral
examination
Practice explaining maintenance concepts, procedures, and decisions clearly. The goal is to demonstrate understanding—not simply recognize an answer on a screen.
Practical examination
Prepare to demonstrate maintenance skills, work with technical references, select appropriate tools, and follow procedures safely. Our preparation combines study guidance with oral review and hands-on work.

How the 12-day course works
Before your first day: Register and begin preparing
Review your eligibility, discuss your preferred course dates, and understand the complete budget before enrolling.
After purchasing your course, complete the Student Agreement and select your requested class session. Our team provides course materials so you can begin preparing before arrival. Do not wait until the first day of class to start studying.
At the start: Get organized around your goal
Arrive ready to work. Review your course instructions, required documentation, study materials, and the examinations you still need to complete.
Use this time to identify the areas that need the most attention and establish a consistent study routine.
During the course: Prepare and complete your written exams
Work through the required subject areas and follow your preparation plan. Written testing is available by appointment at our main training and PSI testing center: 1300 South Litchfield Road, Building 210, Suite D, Goodyear, AZ 85338.
Written-exam appointments and fees are separate from course tuition. Follow the scheduling instructions provided for your class rather than assuming an exam is automatically booked.
Build oral and practical readiness
Continue strengthening your understanding and hands-on preparation. Use your written-test results to identify knowledge gaps and give those areas additional attention.
The objective is to arrive at the examination ready to explain what you know and demonstrate what you can do.
Complete your separately scheduled DME examination
After passing the required written examinations and meeting the applicable requirements, take your Oral & Practical examination with our in-house Designated Mechanic Examiner (DME) by confirmed appointment. Our second facility is dedicated to O&P preparation and examinations: 1300 South Litchfield Road, Building 150, Suite A-1020, Goodyear, AZ 85338.
The examiner—not the preparation course—evaluates your performance for certification. Successful completion of the required testing and certification process can lead to issuance of your FAA mechanic certificate.
What to expect from an accelerated course
An accelerated course requires a serious commitment. Attend your scheduled sessions, complete your assigned preparation, and set aside time for independent study outside class.
Class hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, with no weekend instruction. The published schedule contains 12 instructional weekdays per course and already accounts for the listed holiday closures. Follow your individual confirmation for class and testing appointments.
Course days and examination dates are different
The 12-day course title is not a guarantee that every student will finish all FAA testing within 12 consecutive calendar days. Your preparation progress, examination results, weekends, holidays, and confirmed testing appointments affect your overall timeline. Confirm your class dates and examiner arrangements before booking nonrefundable travel.
